GAIL WILLERT
STATEMENT
When we think about what is real, we often talk about accepting things at “face value”. But what if that face clouds up, becomes opaque, solidifies into a mask?
Where is reality then? Faces are one of the first things that we recognize as infants. When they become occluded, adulterated or transformed, what happens to our trust in them? Can we believe our eyes? My work plays with this borderline of belief.
