KAREN SCHUMANSTATEMENT With her obsidian knife, she cut herself free of the illusion that she realized she never really belonged to anyway. The authenticity of self prevailed over the false reality in which she was tangled, and she was free to create a new dream of existence. The Outsider The underlying energy of what is occurring is truer than the literal reality, my shaman taught me. The story is truer than the truth. In meditating on this concept, I came to know that, underlying our need and wish to be protected is that, more importantly, we must protect others and outside forces from our own selves, our manipulations, opinions, and control, for protection to become reality in the world.
